Small-scale cooling cabinet comparison

Every rack-level cooling product we could verify for micro data center use (≤120 kW class). This segment does not publish prices — treat any number a vendor gives you as an opening position.

ProductFormCoolingPower classFacility-free?Note
Schneider Electric
EcoStruxure Micro Data Center
Single enclosed cabinet, 6U-43UAir (sealed loop / built-in AC / DX)~3.5-10 kW per cabinetFully plug-and-playNo liquid-cooled micro DC models — stops at air-cooling limits
Vertiv
VRC-S Micro Data Center
Enclosed cabinet, up to 48UAir (closed loop, ~3.5 kW class; optional DX)~3.5 kW per cabinetPlug-and-playVertiv's liquid cooling line (CoolChip CDU 70+) starts at 70 kW and is a component, not a turnkey cabinet
Vertiv
CoolChip CDU 70 (XDU070)
In-row CDU unit (liquid-to-air)Direct liquid cooling, liquid-to-air60-100 kW (depends on ambient/approach)No facility water, but needs room AC headroomComponent-level product for AI racks; publishes capacity-vs-ambient curves (rare!)
STULZ × CoolIT
Micro DC (liquid-cooled)
42U/48U one-cabinet data centerDirect-to-chip liquid (60-80%) + built-in AC (rest)~27 kW typical, up to 80 kWLargely (27 kW config)Closest comparable product; launched 2018, limited updates since; channels mostly EU/US
Rittal
LCP Rack (CW/DX)
In-rack air conditionerAir-side precision cooling (name says 'liquid' = refrigerant/chilled water inside the AC)3-44 kW depending on modelDX variant yes; CW needs chilled waterCommon misconception: LCP is rack air-conditioning, NOT server liquid cooling
Asetek

In-rack CDU + distributed cold platesDirect liquid cooling, mostly liquid-to-liquid80-120 kW per rackNo — needs tempered water loop (dry cooler etc.)HPC-oriented; no established SEA/ME channel

The gap

Turnkey, facility-free liquid-cooled cabinets in the 20-50 kW class are essentially uncovered: major-vendor micro DCs stop at ~10 kW air cooling, and their liquid products start at 40-70 kW as components for AI data centers. The only full predecessor is the 2018 STULZ×CoolIT Micro DC.

Caveats

  • Prices are not publicly listed by any vendor in this segment (❌) — budget via RFQ.
  • Certification status (CE/UL/local) must be confirmed per market with each vendor.
  • Data compiled 2026-09; verify currency before citing in procurement documents.
